Devin by Wildhouse Photography

As I said before, we were lucky enough to have not one but two photographer friends come hang out with us and snap some pics while there. Tali came by on Sunday morning and had an awesome breakfast that my cousin made with us before we left. Tali is the same person who took my maternity pics as well as the 2 week old newborn pics of Devin. I have those in my albums but never posted them because I also used them on my announcements. Check out her blog HERE. Again, some truly awesome pictures!

I just know that sweet slobobbery gummy smile won't be that way much longer.

While in Austin, Chris and I were lucky enough that not one, but two awesome photographers friends came by to hang out with us and got some great pics of Devin in the meantime. First was Francis. Check out his blog HERE. He does some truly amazing work.

Here is his take on Devin this weekend!

A weekend away

Last weekend Chris and I had planned to stay home. But as the week wore on, and things were falling into place, we decided maybe we would take a reservation free weekend trip to Austin to visit my cousin. She has really needed some positive family support lately and we have really needed to have a really cheap weekend away from home so it was perfect for all of us. Chris and I left Friday afternoon and came back Sunday. We had a very low key weekend in Austin and really enjoyed ourselves! We ate at a great mexican place one night and grilled at the house the next night! Chris and I have been on more of a budget lately because of the possibility of strike so we haven't been out in weeks and we both LOVED getting to eat some mexican food out while there! My dear friend Ashley got married this weekend in Tyler and I was really bummed we didn't get to go so this helped me to not feel so sad about it. Congrats Ashley! I saw some undercover pictures that surfaced and must say what a beautiful bride you were!

Here are a few pics from the weekend...

A visit with Momma Mildred

This past weekend, my aunt Sally, and my cousin Alison and I met in Waco to go visit Momma Mildred. At the ripe age of 98, Mildred still has as much spunk as a 30 year old. We had so much fun visiting with her and I think she really enjoyed seeing Devin! She talked to her, held her and sang silly songs, making up the words as she went when she couldn't remember them!

13 years old!

It just doesn't seem possible that our sweet little Kortnee is going to be a teenager tomorrow. Where has the time gone?!?!

I remember back to the first time I met her. We were going on vacation to visit Chris' mom. It was the first time I was meeting any of his family and the first time I met Kortnee and I was a nervous wreck! Numerous times on the car ride there, while her daddy was not in the car, and I let her jump up in the front seat with me, she told me. " I don't like you very much!" Thankfully now we look back and we both laugh about that. She can't even remember it as she was only 2! Heck, we were both young and had a lot of bonding in our future!

I have been so blessed over the years to share my life with Kortnee and her daddy. There have been so many wonderful Christmases, Thanksgivings and Summers that we have gotten to share together and have lots of fun. I like to refer to myself as the wicked stepmom with her. I guess I am lucky, probably really really lucky that she just laughs at this and doesn't SEEM to agree. :) And now she has a baby sister. She loved her at Christmas when she met her and she was just a few weeks old, and even though she wouldn't admit it to anyone, it was obvious to us. Boy, is she going to have a fun summer with her now that she has so much personality! AND, I am totally experienced at getting out of the house with her too now...Korntee had to help me the first time. That pour girl was going stir crazy I am sure as she and I both are used to going going going nonstop together. She was SO HAPPY that I said I needed to run some errands even though I was nervous as heck about taking my barely 2 week old baby out. She was the only reason I held it together on that trip and didn't fall apart, evne though I tried to more than once. She took it all in stride and just laughed with me about it. She is the perfect shopping buddy. And there will be lots of shopping in our future!

Here are a few pics of her over the years. I don't have any of the pre digital ones scanned in yet and can't get to them right now b/c of the "secret" project going on in that room.

Happy 13th Birthday Kortnee! We love you so very much and couldn't be more proud of the lovely young lady you have become!

Do you remember....

when you were little and your parent or grandparent would put you on their legs and make you into an airplane? That is one of our newest discoveries! We do it on our legs as well as with our arms as we hand Devin off to each other. She LOVES it! It was hard to get a good shot as Chris was asleep and I really needed both hands...her is a sneak preview until I can get a better picture. It always results in a smile and a laugh! In fact she has been smiling and laughing lately every day when she sees me walk into daycare to pick her up. Talk about melting my heart!

A little daddy time

Every day when Devin and I get home, Daddy meets us at the car to welcome us home! We usually spend some time playing with her together and then daddy takes over while I make dinner and clean and make bottles.
